A Journey of Reward - Langtang

The day began with a smile on my face. Though I did not feel so great about the Langtang Trek in its planning phase but I could not resist feeling hopeful on the morning we set out for the journey. We gathered at Balaju Chowk and by 7 am we were on the road with an open mind and inquisitiveness. By 5 pm we reached Syaphrubesi village, which was the starting point of the trek.

Not mentioning the beautiful landscape we saw on the way would be brutal — deep emerald forests, serpentine rivers, gorgeous valleys — it made the journey so much better. We spent the night at the village and rested well so we would be prepared for the trek ahead.

The next day, we had an early start and at noon we reached Bamboo Hotel where we had our lunch. Another great thing about trekking to Langtang is that you have great communication with the hotels that are on the way and you can avoid the hassle of a last minute search for accommodation. We had walked for almost five hours and we were grateful for the rest we finally got. But more than anything, the view from the hotel was what took my breath away.

Standing in the middle of a jungle, on a gorgeous river bank beside a huge waterfall — the view was incredible and mesmerising, something that made the walk worth it. After an hour of rest there, we continued to walk and reached Lama Hotel at exactly 5 pm. It was our last destination for the day.

Next day, after breakfast, we headed for our ultimate destination, Langtang Valley. Rocky mountains, amazing waterfalls and sparkling rivers — words cannot justify the beauty of Langtang. We stopped at Ghoda Tabela to snack and take some rest. Picturesque Ghoda Tabela is like a painter's dream. After a while, we headed towards Langtang for a four - hour long trek. On the way we saw a yak fight as well, which certainly added a bit of thrill to the journey.

With beautifully constructed stone houses, Lantang Village is as serene as it looks in pictures. We were welcomed by warm locals. We called it a day as we immersed in the beauty of the place.

The next day, we were recommended to visit Kyanzin Gompa, named after a famous monastery located there. Situated at an altitude of 3,860 m we headed towards the monastery at 7 am and reached the place at 11 am. To describe the tranquility of the place as divine would be an understatement. The magnificent and mystical snow-capped mountains were enough to captivate us and make us promise to return.

The trip made me realise that the best way to let life consume you is by travelling. We returned to Kathmandu with many stories to share and memories etched in our hearts. And try as I might, words will never be able to describe my experience at heavenly Langtang.
