Susan’s Collection reopens

KATHMANDU: Susan’s Collection, that had been damaged by the April 25 earthquake, reopened at Kathmandu Guest House, Thamel on January 7.

At this gallery you can get traditional as well as contemporary Nepali artworks like statues, paubha and more.

The gallery which used to be on the third floor of the building is now open on the ground floor. Talking about the store, Susan Sakya, owner of the store mentioned, “My gallery was first opened in 2000. Since then we were closed for the first time post quake. But we have reopened from today."

Though the gallery's present area is small compared to the previous one, Sakya is "happy that within eight months I got an opportunity to collect more artwork from Nepali artists that are exclusive and of fine quality.”

According to Sakya Nepali artists' filigree work with stone setting are the best in the world and most demanded ones. And these works are available at her gallery. “One can also get customised pieces from here. We have artwork of popular and talented Nepali artists where their works have excellent finishing and play with different materials,” added Sakya. One can get 20 per cent discount in the opening week as per Sakya.
