14 people killed in Turkish school trip bus crash

ANKARA: Officials and reports say a bus carrying school children, teachers and parents has crashed into a car and fallen into an irrigation canal, killing 14 people, including six children.

Kerem Al, governor for Osmaniye province, says 26 others were injured in the accident which occurred in southern Osmaniye province as the bus was returning from a school trip to a national park and museum.

The state-run Anadolu Agency said Monday the bus collided with a car, lost control and veered into the irrigation canal.

At least one of the injured passengers was in serious condition.

The children were from a school in Hatay province which borders Syria and lies just south of Osmaniye.
