2 men executed in Iran
TEHRAN: An Iranian semiofficial news agency says two men have been executed following their conviction of charges related to post-election unrest.
The Isna news agency report said the two were hanged Thursday. It identified them as Mohammad Reza Ali Zamani and Arash Rahmanipour and said they were convicted of trying to topple "the Islamic establishment" and membership of armed opposition groups.
The executions are the first of opposition activists since the unrest began in the days after the disputed June election, which the opposition says President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad won through fraud.
The agency says nine others have been sentenced to death, also on unrest-related charges.
Scores of opposition activists are facing trial.
