Sylhet, January 13

At least 24 suspects were being questioned today following a bomb blast that killed three people and injured 26 near a Muslim shrine in Bangladesh, police said.

"Among the 24 there are several women," police officer Shafiqul Alam said by telephone from northeastern Sylhet district. Some of those being questioned had been attending the urs, the annual congregation for Muslim saints currently taking place at the shrine of Hazrat Shah-Jalal, where the bombing occurred late yesterday. Alam told AFP police were still hunting for clues in the bombing, the first such incident to hit the 700-year-old shrine.
