Kandahar, July 26:

About 50 suspected Taliban militants were killed in fighting with US and Afghan forces in southern Afghanistan, a provincial governor said today. The fighting late yesterday in Uruzgan province’s Dihrawud district came during an offensive against a rebel camp, which had been used as a base for attacks in neighboring areas, Gov Jan Mohammed Khan said. About 25 suspected Taliban insurgents were captured during the clash.
