Afghan bus crash kills 20

Kandahar, August 20:

At least 20 people were killed and 28 others injured today when two buses collided on a highway in southern Afghanistan, police said. The accident occurred in Shar-i-Safa district of Zabul province on the highway linking the main southern city of Kandahar with Kabul, local police commander Ghulam Rasoul Aka told AFP. “It was the worst incident I remember,” the officer said. A woman and two children were missing, Aka said. A lack of ambulances and medical services slowed the rescue effort, he said adding that support had to be called in from Kandahar and Kabul.
