Aid being sent to Malaysia’s flood-affected
Kota Tinggi, January 16:
Speedboats and helicopters delivered aid to evacuees from floods across southern Malaysia today, with around 100,000 people still seeking refuge at shelters after being forced out of their homes, officials said.
Prime Minister Abdullah Ahmad Badawi said an emergency would not be declared in worst-hit Johor state, which neighbours Singapore.
“There is no need (to declare emergency), why should it be? There is no reason at all,” he was quoted as saying by Bernama news agency.
