B’desh crackdown on criminals

Dhaka, September 8:

Bangladesh has begun a crackdown on criminal elements that could pose a security threat during the November 12-13 summit of the South Asian Association for Regional Cooperation (SAARC) here. The government has asked border security guards to prevent terrorists or terrorist groups of SAARC nations from entering the country before the end of the summit, the New Age daily reported today.

“Steps to hold the summit peacefully have been taken earlier and we have reviewed those steps on Wednesday,” the newspaper quoted the state minister for home affairs, Lutfozzaman Babar, as saying.
