BOSNIA-HERZEGOVINA: Police in Bosnia say they have arrested five suspected arms traffickers and confiscated a large quantity of arms, ammunition and other military equipment.

The prosecutor's office said in a statement Monday the five were part of an organised group suspected of supplying weapons and ammunition for sale in black markets in Bosnia, Serbia and Germany.

The search of facilities and vehicles used by the suspects yielded "large quantity of arms, ammunition and other military equipment."

Bosnia is part of the so-called Balkans route used to smuggle arms and drugs to western Europe.

Some of the firearms and ammunition used during recent terrorist attacks in Europe, most notably the Paris attacks in November, were traced to the Balkans.
