Corrupt Kabul mayor convicted
KABUL: A court on Monday sentenced the mayor of Kabul in absentia to four years in prison on corruption charges and issued a warrant for his arrest. “The case he was sentenced over involved wasting $16,500 dollars of public money,” said deputy attorney-general Enayat Kamal. “The court sentenced him to four years in jail, ordered him to return the money he wasted and fired
him from his position.” The mayor, Mir Abdul Ahad Sahbi, was not present in the court.
