New Delhi, June 19:

India and Bangladesh get a big opportunity to put some energy and balance into their relations, marred by differences on issues like cross-border terror and illegal infiltration, when Bangladesh Foreign Secretary Hemayetuddin arrives here for talks tomorrow. The foreign office consultations, which are taking place after a gap of two years, are being seen by the two neighbours as an opportunity to mend fences and impart a fresh momentum to relations that have been at their lowest ebb in recent times. Foreign Secretary Shyam Saran will hold talks with his Bangladeshi counterpart on Tuesday and review an entire spectrum of bilateral relations and regional issues of interest to the two countries. “The discussions are very important,” said official sources.
