Islamabad, January 19:

A Kazakh diplomat was in a coma after he was shot in the head at his home in the Pakistani capital, police said today. The diplomat, whose name was not immediately released, was shot last night in Islamabad, said Mehboob Aslam, a senior Islamabad police official. The motive for the attack and who did it wasn’t immediately clear.

Aslam said nothing was stolen from the diplomat’s home where he was found this morning by a servant who came for work and then reported it to police. He said police were investigating whether the diplomat had quarrelled with friends who were reportedly at his home the night he was shot. Wasim Raza, a spokesman for Islamabad police, said the diplomat was from Kazakhstan.
