Islamabad, June 15:

Pakistan’s Information and Broadcasting Minister Sheikh Rashid Ahmed, in the eye of a storm over his alleged links with terrorists, has denied any role in setting up training camps for jehadis.

“It has never been my policy to train militants. I am a politician who strongly supported the peace process between India and Pakistan,” The News daily quoted Ahmed as saying. “I have always been supporting the legitimate struggle of Kashmiris,” he said.

Ahmed’s clarification came following disclosures by JKLF leader Yasin Malik, who claimed on Monday that the minister had once set up a camp where 3,500 guerrillas were trained.
