Small Indian paramilitary plane carrying at least 10 crashes

NEW DELHI: A small paramilitary plane carrying at least 10 people has crashed just outside the main airport in India's capital, killing at least one person.

A.K. Sharma, director of Delhi Fire Services, says the plane crashed after takeoff into a small body of water early Tuesday just outside a boundary wall at the airport. He says part of the plane is submerged under water.

Sharma says one body has been recovered. The status of the other people aboard the plane is unclear.

The cause of the crash is not yet known.

The plane, belonging to India's Border Security Force, was taking off from New Delhi to head to the eastern city of Ranchi.
