Hizbul man arrested

NEW DELHI: Delhi Police’s Special Cell on Friday arrested a suspected Hizbul Mujahideen militant from the Inter State Bus Terminal. Police said Ali Mohammed, 25, was coming from Kashmir. They seized half-a-kilo of RDX from him. Police said Mohammed is a Pakistan-administered Kashmir-trained militant and had entered India through Nepal. — HNS

Blast kills 9 in China

BEIJING: A mysterious blast in a residential area of a northern Chinese city killed nine people, and police suspect a resident was illegally storing coal-mining explosives in his home, state media said on Friday. The explosion on Thursday destroyed 26 homes in Fenyang, the Beijing Morning Post reported. It killed nine people and injured 25 , Xinhua said. — AP

DHAKA: A fire raced through a village market in northern Bangladesh on Friday, destroying at least 60 tin-roof shops, a news report said. No casualties were reported in the early morning fire in Lalmonirhat district, 256 km north of Dhaka, the United News of Bangladesh reported. — AP
