Two killed in Thai south

Yala, January 30:

Two Buddhists were killed and 12 others injured in a spate of attacks by separatist insurgents across Muslim-majority provinces of southern Thailand, police said today.

The attacks included a 15-kilo roadside bomb that exploded as a pickup truck carrying 10 policemen drove by early Tuesday in Narathiwat, one of three provinces hit by the separatist unrest.

The explosion hurt all 10 police. In nearby Pattani province, a Buddhist couple was attacked in a drive-by shooting that killed the wife and left the husband hospitalised, police said.
