RAUTAHAT, FEBRUARY 9
Ishanath Municipality Mayor Santosh Kumar Mehata expressed concern about a non-governmental organisation, which operated without acquiring permission from the local government.
'Though the law allows NGOs to operate after acquiring permission from the local level concerned, a NGO named Mandabi has been operating without permission from the municipality,' said Mayor Mehata, addressing a press conference in the municipality today.
'As the organisation is running its activities in the municipality without acquiring permission from the municipality, its operation is illegal, that's why we've asked the UN Women, an organisation providing financial assistance to the NGO, to stop funding its activities,' he explained.
Further, Mehata said the municipality was forced to act tough against the organisation because of people's complaints that it was engaged in politics in the garb of serving the public.
