Bhagirathi Bhatta rape and murder case: Culprit yet to be identified

No visible progress in the case almost a week after the incident

DHANGADHI, FEBRUARY 10

Police have not been able to identify the culprit who raped and murdered 17-year-old Bhagirathi Bhatta of Chadepani of Dogadakedar Rural Municipality-7 of Sudurpaschim Province.

Chief of Sudur Pashchim Province Police, DIG Uttam Subedi, and District Police Office Chief DSP Narayan Prasad Adhikari are in the field probing the case.

However. they have not found any major leads yet and are still on the lookout for the perpetrator.

The teenager, a grade XII student at the local Sanatan Dharma School, had gone missing since February 4 and was found lifeless in the community forest on Frebruary 5. The locals who had spotted her body had informed the police.

According to the spokesperson of Sudurpaschim Police, Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Mukesh Kumar Singh, many suspects have already been rounded up and are being investigated.

The incident has triggered an outrage in the area while people have been protesting the crime across various parts of the country.
