Police claim breakthrough in Bhagarathi Bhatta case

The culprit, who was the victim's schoolmate and a neighbor, has confessed to his crimes.

KATHMANDU, FEBRUARY 17

Police have apprehended a person in connection with the rape and murder of 17-year-old Bhagarathi Bhatta of Dogdakedar Rural Municipality-7, Baitadi.

The accused was detained by the investigating officers on Tuesday.

It has been learnt that the culprit, who was the victim's schoolmate and a neighbor, has confessed to his crimes.

According to the Baitadi District Police Office, who claim to have made a breakthrough in the case, the assaulter will be made public on Wednesday in a presser.

Bhagarathi, who had attended her school and left for home on February 3 never made it home. She was found the next day, lifeless, in a local community forest on February 4.
