KATHMANDU, FEBRUARY 24

Nepal Communist Party (NCP) chair, Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli, has called the standing committee meeting of leaders close to his faction.

The meeting has been called for 11:00 am today at the PM's official residence in Baluwatar.

PM Oli summoned the standing committee members close to his faction in the aftermath of Supreme Court overturning Prime Minister Oli's decision of dissolving the House of Representatives and calling it an unconstitutional act.

The constitutional bench of Supreme Court that had been carrying out hearings on the House dissolution case deemed the government's decision void, on Tuesday.

With this decision, the House of Representatives has now been reinstated. In line with the apex court's verdict, the government will have to summon a session of the House within 13 days.

Meanwhile, PM Oli's secretariat members have hinted that the Prime Minister will not tender his resignation immediately. 'The Prime Minister will face the House of Representatives to implement the verdict but will not tender his resignation as of now,' PM's press advisor Surya Thapa emphasised.
