Nepali Congress President and former Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba stated on Saturday that he is not in the race to becoming the new prime minister.

'Despite the main opposition party being a strong force, we are in no hurry to fight for the post, neither are there attempts being made by us for the same,' said Deuba at the inauguration of the 13th annual general meeting of BP Memorial Community Hospital.

NC's senior leader Ram Chandra Poudel stressed that the focus should be more on resolving current political deadlock instead of engaging in mathematics of forming a new government. 'Federal democratic republic is NC's agenda and NC has to play a proactive role in saving it while ending the current deadlock.'

Meanwhile, General Secretary of the party Dr Shashanka Koirala underscored the need for calling a timely general convention of the party.
