NEPALGUNJ: Nepal Police Club registered their second straight victory, while Nepal APF Club opened the Sagarmatha Cement seventh Prime Minister Cup Women's Volleyball Tournament campaign with a win here on Saturday.
NPC defeated Lumbini 25-8, 25-12, 25-14 for their second consecutive win. Lumbini faced their second straight defeat. In another match, APF came from a set down to beat Tribhuvan Army Club 24-26, 25-23, 25-16, 25-23 in their first match.
TAC, who had defeated Lumbini on the opening day, faced their first defeat. Usha Bhandari of NPC and Niruta Thagunna of APF won the player-of-the-match awards. A total of five teams are taking part in the tournament organised by Banke District Volleyball Association. The team with most number of points after the round robin league will win the tournament.
Top four teams will receive Rs 500,000, Rs 200,000, Rs 100,000 and Rs 50,000 respectively. A version of this article appears in the print on March 07, 2021, of The Himalayan Times.
