KATHMANDU, MARCH 15

Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli, chairperson of CPN-UML, has met with the party's senior leader Madhav Kumar Nepal today.

The meeting is taking place at the party's central office in Dhumbarahi, Kathmandu.

Present in the meeting are other leaders representing both sides. Deputy Prime Minister Ishwar Pokharel, Finance Minister Bishnu Paudel, Foreign Minister Pradeep Gyawali, and leader Subas Nembang are present from the Prime Minister's side.

Likewise, leaders Surendra Pandey, Raghuji Panta, Bhim Rawal, and Ghanashyam Bhusal are attending the meeting with senior leader Nepal.

The two leaders are meeting after months, in the aftermath of Supreme Court's verdict to accord the party name 'Nepal Communist Party' to Rishi Kattel. Following the order from Supreme Court, CPN-UML and CPN-Maoist Centre had been revived.

Meanwhile, CPN-UML faction led by leader Nepal and Jhalanath Khanal, on Sunday, communicated with the Election Commission urging it not to implement decisions taken by the party faction led by PM Oli. They wrote a letter to the poll panel saying that amendment made to the party's statute by the Oli-faction was illegal.

They stated that as per the party's statute, its provisions could be amended only by the party's general convention.

On December 20, Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli unilaterally dissolved the House of Representatives which induced a split in the ruling party. Two factions became active in a tug-of-war, one led by Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli while the other led by Nepal along with CPN-MC's Pushpa Kamal Dahal.

With the revival of CPN-UML and CPN-MC, leaders under the then Dahal-Nepal faction have been brought back to the party which is led by PM Oli, creating a complicated state of affairs within CPN-UML.
