One person returning from India has tested positive for COVID-19 in Kanchanpur. Of the 20 persons who underwent test for COVID-19, a person aged 54 of Punarbash Municipality tested positive for the contagion today.

Contact person Mahindra Bhatta at District Health Office Kanchanpur said the man had tested positive for COVID by PCR test. Seti Province Hospital Information Officer Dilip Kumar Shrestha had returned home from India's Maharashtra on March 13.

The COVID patient is being treated at a temporary hospital right now. The man is being administered oxygen after complications surfaced in his respiratory system. It's yet to be ascertained if the patient is infected by COVID variant.

Sudurpaschim Province was COVID-free for some time. But, with the second wave of COVID hitting India, people returning from India have started testing positive for the virus.

Keeping in view the possible outbreak of the COVID-19 cases, health authorities have urged all and sundry to maintain health and safety measures to curb the spread of the deadly contagion in the province.
