KATHMANDU, APRIL 9

The CPN-Maoist Centre has taken action against Home Minister Ram Bahadur Thapa.

Minister Thapa has been removed from his position as a National Assembly member representing the Maoist Centre after he defected to the ruling CPN-UML.

CPN-MC today communicated with the National Assembly Secretariat stating that Thapa will no longer represent the party at the National Assembly.

On Thursday, four CPN-MC lawmakers – Top Bahadur Rayamajhi, Lekhraj Bhatta, Prabhu Sah, and Gauri Shankar Chaudhary – had lost their seats in the House of Representatives after moving to CPN-UML. They were recently nominated as the central committee members of the CPN-UML.

All four were Cabinet ministers in Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli-led government.

After losing their HoR seats, the four leaders had consequently lost their ministerial positions as well. However, they are being re-inducted into the Oli-cabinet, today.
