Lama and team win Pro-Am title

Pro Sanjay Lama and amateurs Babu Poudyal, Pratima Sherpa, and Maj Bejoy Moktan won the Pro-Am title of the Surya Nepal Western Open here at the Himalayan Golf Course today.
The winning team accumulated 164 points to finish first. Pro Lama and amateur Moktan scored 38 points each, while amateur Poudyal earned 48 and Sherpa added 40 points. The team of pro Sanjok Tamang and amateurs Raj Kumar Rai, Brig Gen Sudersan Silwal and Mithun Rai finished second with 144 points. Pro Tamang and amateur Silwal scored 36 points each, whereas Raj Kumar Rai added 37 points and Mithun Rai earned 35.
Likewise, pro Dhana Bahadur Thapa and his team of amateurs Sushma Sigdel, Pavitra Kumar Karki and Samyog Shahi came third with 141 points. Pro Thapa earned 36 points, while three amateurs scored 35 points each. Phintso Ongdi Lama won the closest-to-the-pin award, while Shyam Tamang bagged the longest drive title.
A total of 80 players - 16 pros and 64 amateurs - took part in the Pro-Am event played under stableford full handicap format.
The best scoring pro was automatically teamed up with top three amateurs to declare the winning team, while second-placed pro was paired with fourth, fifth and sixth amateur for the runner-up team. Amateurs from seventh, eighth and ninth places were teamed up with the third best pro for the second runner-up team.
Honorable Minister for Economic Affairs and Planning Kiran Gurung, AIG of Nepal Police Hari Pal, Kaski District Golf Association President Lachhim Prasad Gurung, Director of Himalayan Golf Course Roshan KC and Assistant Brand Manager of Surya Nepal Pvt Ltd Bikram Thapa gave away prizes to the winners.
NGA to conduct youth development programme in Pokhara
POKHARA: The Nepal Golf Association formed the Gandaki Province Committee and renewed its commitment for the development of golf.
The NGA has handed over the responsibility of youth and girls development programme to Bhuwan Gurung,
Tanka Rai and Dharma Raj Gurung. NGA Vice-president Pavitra Karki handed over 10,000 balls and Rs 100,000 to the committee on Friday.
