Kathmandu, May 4:

Seven people were arrested from different places in the capital yesterday for their involvement in looting and vandalising property, the police said, adding that a person was stabbed in Jorpati on the same day.

A police team from the Valley Crime Investigation Branch (VCIB), Hanumandhoka, yesterday arrested two persons on charge of looting two houses in the capital. Sudah Joshi, 17, and Sanjay Gurung, 16, were arrested from separate places, the police said. Gurung hails from Bhatenamalang-2, Sindhupalchowk, whereas Joshi is a resident of Kathmandu Metropolitan City-21.

“They are charged with looting Rs 58,000 in cash and other valuables from the house rented by Sita Lama at KMC-20 on Wednesday. They also looted Rs 52,200 in cash and other valuables from the account section of the Nest Generation Residential Academy at KMC-19,” the police said. The police seized a gold necklace, a camera, a telephone set, a wall clock, and other goods from them.

Meanwhile, the Baneshwor Ward Police Office yesterday arrested five persons on the charge of vandalising the office of Surya Carpet at Buddhanagar some days ago. They were arrested yesterday while they were walking on a road, the police said, adding that four khukuris were seized from them. Upon interrogation, they admitted the crime, the police said, adding that one of the arrested had been identified as Roshan Tandulkar.

Meanwhile, eight persons stabbed Sanjay Lama, 20, of Jorpati-3, yesterday. Lama has been undergoing treatment at the Nepal Medical College and Teaching Hospital. He is said to be in a critical condition.
