India reports over 295,000 infections; 2,000 Covid deaths on Wednesday

India on Wednesday reported 295,041 Covid-19 infections over the last 24 hours.
This is the highest single-day count in India so far.
Similarly, according to the Indian Health Ministry data, the total number of Covid-19 death toll reached 182,553 with over 2,000 deaths reported over the last 24 hours.
India is the country with the second-highest number of infection with 15.6 million overall cases behind the United States (over 1 million Covid-19 infection cases).
India has been grappling with the recent fast-spreading second wave of coronavirus that has strained its medical system to the limits. Indian authorities are scrambling with the supplies of medical oxygen and hospital beds.
With major cities under seize, some have declared lockdown, weekend lockdown, curfew and prohibitory orders to try to control and manage the spread.
India has vaccinated over 130,119,310 people so far, a tiny fraction of its population.
