KATHMANDU: The three-team Nepali boxing team returned home on Sunday after taking part in the AIBA Youth World Boxing Championship held in Poland from April 10-24.

Sushma Tamang became the first Nepali boxer to win a bout in the Youth World Boxing Championship when she defeated an opponent from Lithuania to enter the quarter-finals in women's below-48kg weight category.

Tamang, who had received a bye in the first round, failed to land the maiden after she faced a defeat at the hands of Poland boxer. Another boxer, Sumina Khadka lost in the first round bout. Coach Om Maskey had accompanied the boxers to Poland.

Nepal Boxing Association Members Pushkar Raj Panta and Man Bahadur Bhnadari along with chief coach Prakash Thapa Magar and Asian Games medallist Deepak Maharjan welcomed the team at the Tribhuvan International Airport.
