A meeting of ruling CPN-UML's Standing Committee has commenced in the Prime Minister's official residence.

The 'emergency' meeting was called by party chair and Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli in the wake of recent political developments in various provinces pertaining to retaining governance.

The UML's Standing Committee will conduct discussions around the recent events and make appropriate decisions, a source revealed.

After the dissolution of the erstwhile Nepal Communist Party following Supreme Court's decision, a new Standing Committee was formed by UML's General Convention Organising Committee.

A meeting of the Council of Ministers will follow the ruling party's SC meet.
