Coronavirus claims nine lives in Rautahat

RAUTAHAT, MAY 6

As the second wave of coronavirus spreads rapidly, nine persons have died due to the virus in Rautahat.

According to statistics with Rautahat District Police Office, nine persons infected with the deadly virus died within ten days from April 26 to May 6 during treatment in Rautahat.

A 70-year-old male of Gaur Municipality died while receiving treatment in Gaur Hospital. Similarly, a 55-year-old from Durgabhagawati Rural Municipality died in the course of treatment at a local health facility.

A 50-year-old woman from Madhav Narayan Municipality, a 50-year-old male from Gadhimai Municipality, a 60-year-old woman from Katahariya Municipality, a 70-year-old male from Phatuwabijayapur Municipality and a 54-year-old from Gaur Municipality died while receiving treatment in Narayani Regional Hospital, Birgunj.

Likewise, a 36-year-old male from Gadhimai Municipality and a 54-year-old woman from Durgabhagawati Rural Municipality died during treatment at National Medical College, Birgunj. Police said that the duo, suffering from different diseases, died due to coronavirus infection. Nine persons have died from the virus in Rautahat till date since the second wave started spreading.

Chief District Officer Indra Dev Yadav said 189 people were infected in the district.

He further said that vehicles, hotels, restaurants among others would not be allowed to operate from May 7 until next notice. He requested all to maintain social distancing, use face masks, and adopt other health safety measures.
