Floods and landslides have disrupted the Sanfe-Martadi road section in Bajura since yesterday.

According to Chief District Officer Gopal Adhikari, floods and landslides have swept away sections of the road at several points on the five-kilometre stretch between Taprisera of Budhiganga Municipality and Tipada of Badimalika Municipality.

'Continuous rainfall that lasted for about three hours has swept away diversions put up at four different points along the road section.

Similarly the boulders falling from above has disrupted the road,' he said.

In the wake of the road disruption caused by the incessant rainfall, a team of officials, including CDO Adhikari, District Police Office Chief DSP Madanjit Mahara, and APF Chief DSP Dipendra Bista had inspected the damaged road.

CDO Adhikari has instructed the road division to resume the road after conducting the repair work at the earliest. Following the disruption of the road section, regular supply of daily essentials and medicines have also been halted. 'As the road is blocked, health items and oxygen cylinders brought from Nepalgunj have been stranded on the way,' said health coordinator Harish BK.

Last monsoon too, the road had been disrupted at the same place for about four months due to floods and landslides. A version of this article appears in the print on May 8, 2021, of The Himalayan Times.
