Storm claims life in Kailali

One person died and a dozen houses were destroyed due to the strong wind that followed heavy rainfall in Kailali last night.

The deceased has been identified as Deukala Kami, 40, of Tikapur Municipality.

Police said that Kami died when the tree fell on hiss house. Kami was struck after the tree fell on his thatched roof house at 8:00pm yesterday, said police.

Similarly, a house belonging to Kalak Bahadur Rokaya of Ghodaghodi Municipality was destroyed after lightning struck the house the same evening. The electricity meter box, and wiring materials, among others, were destroyed in the incident, said police.

Food grains, vegetables and other materials were destroyed after the wind blew away the roof of a house belonging to Ankit Bohora at Kailari Rural Municipality.
