ACEM hosts webinar titled 'Know Germany'

KATHMANDU, MAY 18

Advanced College of Engineering and Management (ACEM) hosted a webinar titled 'Know Germany' in partnership with the Embassy of Federal Republic of Germany and Goethe-Zentrum Kathmandu, on Monday.

This virtual tour to Germany went live from both Zoom and Facebook.

Ambassador of Germany to Nepal Roland Schäfer, Sebastian Woitsch, Director of the GZK, Benjamin Matern, Head of Language Department, and Binam Karmacharya, Head of Exam Department of GZK were the speakers in the webinar which was moderated by Sojan Prajapati.

German Ambassador Schäfer expressed his gratitude to the ACEM family and also voiced the concern regarding the second wave of pandemic in Nepal. He informed that Germany and the European Union itself will be supporting Nepal at such a period of crisis. Moreover, he praised that Nepal is on the right track in providing academic training in the engineering sector. 'I sincerely hope to see more skilled engineers in future.'

'For international exposure, we highly encourage students to join the competent Engineering Colleges of Germany as well.' he further added.

Director of the GZK Sebastian Woitsch shared a short history behind the name Goethe and how it reflects the diverse culture and arts of the nation. 'Goethe is a leading language centre and is a part of an incredible network of more than 200 institutes of the world,' he stated.

Benjamin Matern, Head of Language Department at GZK in coordination with Binam Karmacharya, Head of Exam Department at the institute, explored Germany, its culture, turbulent past, historic places, wonderful festivals, unique civilisation, the rich language.

Ramesh Silwal, Chairman of ACEM, shared his experience of Germany and the importance of German language while at the country. He also opined that such events help to enlighten not just the interested students but also the overall participants.

Moderator Prajapati, who completed his masters in engineering from Technical University of Munich (TUM) in Germany, shared his memories and significant values of international education in his life.
