Journo threatened over news

By HIMALAYAN NEWS SERVICE

DHARAN, MAY 27

The journalist fraternity has condemned the threat issued to Annapurna Post Sunsari correspondent Ratna Prasad Acharya by various Nepali Congress-aligned organisations over a news report.

Earlier, the Congress' sister wings Nepal Students Union, Nepal Dalit Union, and others had put out a statement threatening to 'take action' against journalist Acharya for linking NC leader Kishor Rai's name to a news story about the return of 182 bigha government land in Sardu Basin Area.

Regarding the threats to ostracise and smear soot on the journalist's face over a news report, organisations such as Federation of Nepali Journalists and Nepal Sport Journalists Forum have issued separate statements and condemned the threats.

The journalists' organisations have also sought action against the persons behind the threats.
