Thailand donates 46 oxygen concentrators to Nepal to tackle COVID-19

KATHMANDU, MAY 28

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Thailand, on behalf of the Royal Thai Government, the Thai Overseas Dhammaduta Bhikkhus to India-Nepal, the Royal Thai Monastery Lumbini, and the Verapuchong Foundation, has provided 46 oxygen concentrators to Nepal.

Ambassador of Thailand Vosita Vorasaph handed over the equipment to Mahendra Prasad Shrestha, Chief Specialist, Ministry of Health and Population amid a brief ceremony held at the Tribhuvan International Airport today.

The oxygen concentrators were brought to the capital today in a cargo flight of Shree Airlines SHA 4326, the Thai Embassy informed.

In a press release issued by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MoFA), the government of Nepal expressed its gratitude for the support received by Thailand.

Similarly, it has been learnt that a special aircraft carrying various equipment and medical items contributed by King Maha Vajiralongkorn Phra Vajiraklaochaoyuhua and members of the Thai Royal Family will also be arriving early next week.

​Earlier this month, 17 oxygen concentrators have been donated by Thai people through the channel of the Thai Overseas Dhammaduta Bhikkhus to India-Nepal and the Royal Thai Monastery Lumbini which have been transported to Nepal on 14 May 2021.

Likewise, till date, Thailand has donated 63 oxygen concentrators to Nepal.

As per the statement issued by the Embassy of Thailand, donation of oxygen concentrators to Nepal is part of Thailand's humanitarian efforts to assist Nepal in its efforts to prevent and combat the spread of COVID-19 in the country. 'The donation reflects the warm and cordial ties between Thailand and Nepal and between their people.'
