Hospital beds lying vacant as COVID-19 cases drop in Kailali

Beds at COVID-19 Care Centre set up in Kailali's Geta Medical College building have been lying vacant as the number of COVID patients visiting the centre have gone down significantly of late.
According to Bishnu Joshi, a health worker deployed at the care centre, there are no COVID patient at the present.
'After the remaining coronavirus patients left the centre after the full recovery yesterday, there is no patient,' said Joshi, adding that the facility had come into operation from May 23 after the steady rise in the cases of coronavirus in Sudurpaschim Province.
Further, Joshi informed that 29 patients received treatment at centre so far. 'Of them 24 patients recovered from the contagion, one died and four persons were referred elsewhere,' Joshi informed.
Meanwhile, he also said that the centre won't e closed straight away as there was high possibility of the third wave of the pandemic. A version of this article appears in the print on June 19, 2021, of The Himalayan Times.
