Two held for youth's murder in Bara

Police made public two persons, including an elderly ascetic, who were arrested on the charge of murdering Birendra Baitha, 25, of Bharwaliya, Bishrampur Rural Municipality, Bara. Baitha was found dead on the roadside of Barainiya market on June 17.
The arrested are ascetic Bir Bahadur Yadav (Dash Baba) of Hanuman temple and his aide Paras Mahato Dhanuk, 35.
The deceased youth was addicted to marijuana, and liquor.
DSP Gautam Mishra said villagers had thrashed the deceased youth many times on the charge of stealing in the village in the past.
The ascetic and his aides had thrashed Baitha on the head with bamboo sticks when he had entered the temple to steal marijuana and money from the ascetic.
Police investigation showed that the ascetic and his aide Dhanuk had thrashed Baitha with bamboo sticks at 2:00am on June 17, said DSP Mishra. They had then dragged the body to the roadside. A version of this article appears in the print on June 24 2021, of The Himalayan Times.
