Domestic flights that were halted due to the second wave of COVID-19 resumed from today.

'Flights to almost all the destinations across the country have resumed by following the health protocol,' said Director General of Tribhuvan International Airport, Pratap Babu Tiwari, adding that, 'As many as 59 flights were scheduled for today.'

'Sixty-four flights have been scheduled on a daily basis without exceeding 50 per cent of the total flights,' he said. 'A flight will take off at an interval of every 10 minutes and an additional temporary baggage claim area has been managed in a bid to minimise passenger's crowd,' he said.

The flight resumption follows the directives given to the Civil Aviation Authority of Nepal by the Ministry of Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation to resume domestic flights by following health protocol against the COVID-19 infection until further notice, not exceeding 50 per cent of the total flights.

The government had halted domestic flights from May 3 and international flights from May 6 citing the threat of the resurgence of the second wave of COVID-19.
