Elderly man dies after COVID shot in Dhading

An elderly died after he was administered a vaccine against COVID-19 at Dhading's Nilkantha Municipality-6 today.

The deceased has been identified as Nar Bahadur Shrestha, 78. According to Shrestha's family members, Shrestha died half-an-hour after he received a dose of Johnson and Johnson vaccine.

Dr Tribhuvan Chandra Jha at Dhading Hospital said the incident was a matter of investigation, but refused to make further comments. 'We can speak only after the post-mortem report as to whether or not the vaccine led to Shrestha's death', said Dr Jha.

The body has been kept in Dhading Hospital for the post-mortem. Shrestha had reached Sunaulo bazaar Health Post to get vaccinated.

He had stayed at the post for half-an-hour and returned home. He was rushed to the hospital after he collapsed at his home. A version of this article appears in the print on July 24 2021, of The Himalayan Times.
