DAMAULI, AUGUST 9

Tanahun prison has been without a health assistant for the past two years.

According to prison Information Officer Narayan Prasad Adhikari, the prison does not have a health assistant ever since Health Assistant Sakshyam Ghimire was transferred elsewhere in October 2019.

'After he was transferred, no one has come to fill in for him,' Adhikari said, adding inmates were being taken to Damauli Hospital and other private health facilities for treatment.

Jailer Rishiram Subedi said his office had informed the Prison Management Department many times about the shortage of health worker at the prison.

'Despite our frequent reporting about our problem due to lack of health worker here, the department has not sent anyone yet,' said the jailer. Meanwhile, in the wake of the increasing COVID-19 infection, the prison administration has put an end to outsiders' visit to the prison.
