Prohibitory order extended in Kathmandu valley; vehicles allowed to ply beyond 8 pm

A meeting of Chief District Officers of Kathmandu, Lalitpur and Bhaktapur have decided to extend the ongoing prohibitory period in the valley till September 1.

KATHMANDU, AUGUST 24

A meeting of Chief District Officers of Kathmandu, Lalitpur and Bhaktapur have decided to extend the ongoing prohibitory period in the valley till September 1.

The meeting held today decided to continue with restrictive measures

in the valley owing to still rampant Covid-19 infection in all three districts of the valley.

Furthermore, the meeting also decided to rescind its earlier decision to limit the movement of vehicles till 8:00 pm everyday except for emergencies.

Now the vehicles will not be obstructed from plying in valley roads at all times, however, they will still have to follow the Covid-19 health guidelines.

Earlier, authorities had been criticised for restricting the movement only during night-time in the name of controlling the spread of coronavirus.

Meanwhile, earlier restrictions imposed in the valley will continue as per previous arrangements except for the provision that all training, meetings, seminars, conventions should be organised through virtual mediums. The latest notice has allowed the above activities with no more than 25 participants.
