KATHMANDU, AUGUST 24

The Committee for Education and Health under the House of Representatives has instructed the authority concerned to conduct the annual examinations of grade 12 by adhering to health safety measures and arranging home centres.

The committee meeting here today said uncertainty related to the exams had taken a mental toll on students. It instructed the Ministry of Education, Science and Technology to ensure vaccination facility for examinees to enable them to take exams without any fear of COVID-19.

The committee has also directed engineering colleges not to demand additional charges from students as there was no educational activity in the schools and colleges with the physical presence of teachers and students due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Referring to the exams of other academic levels being held in the midst of the pandemic, the committee said the exams of grade XII should not be postponed time and again. The committee had also summoned representatives of the authorities concerned and agencies to discuss the matter.

The National Exam Board had decided to conduct exams for Grade 12 at home centres. However, it withdrew its decision due to objection from the COVID-19 Crisis Mechanism Committee.
