JHAPA, AUGUST 31
Indian nationals will be allowed to enter Nepal from today provided they produce their PCR negative report or COVID vaccination card.
'On the basis of necessity, Indian nationals are being allowed to enter Nepal through Kakadbhitta by producing their PCR negative test report or COVID vaccination card from today, but we are yet to receive written permission for the same from the centre,' said CDO Shrawan Kumar Timsina.
Earlier, entry through the border point for Indian or other foreign nationals was banned from the entry point due to the pandemic.
Lately, Mechi Chamber of Commerce and Industry and Hoteliers' Association had met Nepali Congress Central Spokesperson Bishwoprakash Sharma and Mechinagar Municipality Mayor Bimal Acharya and submitted a memorandum to open the entry point citing the adverse effects of the ban on trade and businesses.
Any Nepali wishing to go to India were allowed through the entry point upon producing their negative PCR report and COVID vaccination card. Other entry points in the district, however, are still closed.
