National Science Day to be observed for a week

Ministry of Education, Science and Technology has expressed deep concerns over the new wave of coronavirus in the country and its high infection rate among the younger population, especially among the students.

KATHMANDU, SEPTEMBER 11

National Science Day will be observed throughout a week starting from September 13, according to the Ministry of Education, Science and Technology.

Ministry Secretary Suresh Acharya said the ministry was preparing to celebrate the 9th National Science Day on September 17. At the closing of a workshop organised by the National Astronomical Society here today, ministry Secretary Acharya said that a new building of Nepal Academy of Science and Technology would be inaugurated on that day. He opined that while the world was grappling with COVID-19 pandemic, we could move ahead taking advantage of scientific and researches.

Various events will be organised by the ministry during the National Science Day week-long celebration such as interaction with science experts and entrepreneurs.

Similarly, discussions will be held on science and diplomacy in technology by creating 'science diplomacy forum'. People contributing to science and technology will be feted during the week-long celebration, it was shared.

Likewise, Kathmandu University STEM Education Department Chief Binod Prasad Pant spoke of the need to pay attention to research-based skills to resolve problems.
