NEPSE plunges 40 points; 'mere' daily turnover of Rs 5.358b recorded on Wednesday

The Nepal Stock Exchange (NEPSE) index, the sole secondary market of the country, fell 40.26 points to reach 2,889.03 points, indicating a 1.37 per cent drop, on Wednesday.
The market that has been seeing a significant daily turnover decrease, witnessed a 'mere' Rs 5.358 billion daily turnover today - way behind the highest ever record of Rs 19 billion daily turnover.
The sensitive index also dipped by 1.31 per cent or 7.16 points to 538.50 points.
Similarly, the float index also fell 1.43 per cent or 2.92 points to 202.24 points.
Meanwhile, all the subindices in today's market featured loss as non-life insurance index lead the pack of losers with 272.91 points loss and life insurance index following closely at second place with 175.30 points decrease.
On today's trading day, only 11 scrips advanced, 172 declined while 2 remained unchanged.
A total of 75,895 transactions were conducted for the 10,557,866 unit shares of the total 222 scrips on Wednesday.
At the end of the trading day, market capitalisation reached Rs 4.043 trillion.
