BANKE, OCTOBER 3

The ban that was in place on vehicular movement across the Nepal-India border point in Jamunaha of Banke district was completely lifted from today.

Banke Chief District Officer Shivram Gelal said that though the border point had opened from today, it would come into full operational from tomorrow after completion of some documentation work. Sub-inspector Min Bahadur Bista said that motorbikes, auto rickshaws, cycles with Nepali number plates were allowed to move into the Indian side of the border - Rupaidia.

With the outbreak of the second wave of COVID-19, authorities had banned vehicular movement to and from Nepal and India to contain the COVID surge.

Earlier, only pedestrians were permitted to enter Nepal and India.
