Bhai Tika, the most important day of Tihar is being observed today with sisters offering 'tika' to their brothers.

Sisters offer 'tika' to their brothers wishing them happiness, long life and prosperity on the occasion of Bhai tika.

The auspicious hour for offering 'tika' on the main day of Tihar Festival, Bhai Tika, is 11:02 am for this year. However, it can be held throughout the day, said Chairperson of the Nepal Calendar Determination Committee, Shree Krishna Adhikari.

Brothers are seated at a specially anointed place and offered tika, garlands of Dubo and Makhamali' and a treat consisting varieties of sweets, walnut, spices and Sel roti (a special kind of rice bread cooked in oil).
