Probe panel recommends action against BPKIHS office bearers.

DHARAN, NOVEMBER 12

A probe committee formed by the government to investigate into irregularities at BP Koirala Institute of Health Sciences, Dharan, has recommended action against its office bearers.

The committee led by Health Minister Birodh Khatiwada, with Health Secretary Roshan Pokhrel and Dharan's Mayor Tilak Rai as members, submitted its report to BPKI- HS Chancellor and Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba today.

Dharan Mayor, who is also BPKIHS senate member, said the probe committee formed as per the prime minister's directive had submitted its report to the prime minister.

The report recommends action against incumbent Vice-chancellor Gyanendra Giri, Rector Guru Khanal, Hospital Director Gaurishankar Sah, and former registrar Mohan Chandra Regmi, who had resigned from the post sometime ago. 'We shall call a senate meeting and proceed with action against office bearers at the earliest,' said Mayor Rai.

The report recommends further investigation into irregularities during Regmi's tenure as registrar at BPKIHS, according to Mayor Rai. He said the PM had directed them to hold a senate meeting and act against office bearers. 'Despite his resignation, Regmi has not vacated the registrar's residence and has been availing all the facilities a registrar is entitled to,' said a BPKIHS source.
